The Prayers of a Righteous Man

They say that people often find religion in two places; in fox holes and in prison. The story on these pages is more than finding a religion, but the capturing of a spirit that is Holy. In a true to life series of letters between a man and his creator there is found a sense of humankind and a higher power that goes by many names. The pain and love that is shared with intent does not tell just any story, but the story of a relationship with the one who created us.

Grace and Mercy are found in abundance even in the darkest places of existence. Over the course of years incarcerated- through the sharing of the words from one man’s heart to the pen and then to paper, there is captured and revealed a uniqueness and reality that can only be found at the place where one meets the creator and his awesomeness.

I am blessed, so I share a part of my journey so you too may find a place to let the holy spirit enter your life and show you the magic that is, and always has been, around you. This is my story; this is my testament.

Bending the Bars

Our experiences are unique to us. Yet we have a tendency to share traits or characteristics that can manifest into things that shackle our progress. That can be confusing and frustrating. This book delves into those most influential tendencies, those insidious traits that block and otherwise impede our path – those traits that prevent us from being more and from achieving success. The empirical data that has been gathered over the better part of a decade provides insights into an eclectic demographic present in the United States prison system. Those insights have fostered a healthier and more productive life perspective for others. Those insights are shared here in order to provide a path for anyone who truly wants and needs to change.

In order to be free, we must break the chains that bind us, no matter what they are made of or how they were attached. The first step in this direction is the hardest. But you must take that first step in order to walk with conviction on your own path towards the positive changes that you deserve. This book is intended to help readers create their own approach to becoming a better person – starting now.

Dog Food

An epic tale of a boy from the Westside of Chicago becoming a man. He is quickly becoming a product of his environment like so many do, but his intestinal fortitude demands that he is to be more than just another name on the block. In and out of jail numerous times, he finally decides to get his “game on straight,” but is it in time to escape the ever alluring attractions offered by fast money and a hustling lifestyle? As serendipitous as life may sometimes seem, connecting to others makes his decisions even harder. While natural and simple as his choices may be, making the wrong ones could take him on a whirlwind; spinning his world out of control if he is not careful. A shining light, a beacon of hope, is his Mama Sally, a recovering addict herself, who tries to influence Dre in her direction; one of a path of righteousness and a higher driven purpose. However, after Dre’s cousin Munchie and Uncle Terry come back to Chicago from Cedar Rapids, Iowa with stories of grandeur, Dre is immediately thrust into a tug-of-war. This war is not only with the demons that lay deep within him, but with the influences of those around him as well. His longtime girlfriend and those that he meets on the platinum and gold brick road, a road to riches, could require too high of a price to be paid; fame and respect do not come cheap. Will he escape alive with his honor and integrity intact, or will he fall prey, fall victim to the clichéd underworld that notoriously sinks all of those who cannot swim. If the quicksand of pride and greed suck him under, who will he pull in with him or will someone reach in and pull him out before he has gone too far? It is a world full of choices, a world full of intrigue, betrayal, sex and money. It is a story about the pursuit of the American high, the new American dream … Dog Food. Read less
