His Story
Deon was born and raised on the Westside of Chicago. Like many of us, he grew up as a product of his environment.In his case, a life of drugs. By the age of 12 he was hustling the streets and by 17 he became addicted to heroin. In 1998, he relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Perplexed by aspects of his life, he felt a need for change. Instead of attributing this to his thinking or his environment – he simply blamed others. In October 2001, after a series of poor choices, he was arrested for selling narcotics with the intent to distribute. He fought his case, however, in December 2003, at the age of 23, he was found guuilty and sentenced to 360 months in a federal Correctional Facility. It would prove to be the most challenging period of his life.
Doing Time
After 16 years of soul searching, he found a power in his steadfast faith as he put God first and tried to walk in His will, not his own. he recieved several sentence reductions. Deon continually practiced his faith and in March 2016, he was blessed with a resilience and strength that he would no be called upon to share with the world. The threat of being locked up for 30 years can be trying to a man’s soul. During his 16 years of incarceration he learned coping skills that compelled him to share his story and lead others. Gaining knowledge towards being a better man and believing that his lord, God Almighty would maintain him.

Education
Deon recieved hid GED and followed that with numerous college classes. In his journey he found a higher purpose for his life than just existing. And that purpose is to share his message – “
